Screen&Discuss Event at Community Church of Boston: New Immigrant and Refugee Visions
What was emphasized during the discussion is that it is up to those that believe in the US as a nation of immigrants, to counter the lies and misinformation that is permeating the current dialogue about new immigrants and refugees in the US. It is incumbent on all of us to speak out against xenophobia and hatred toward the newest members of our communities.

Qin Lee, Abdirahman Abdi and Braulio Tellez Vilches, screened their New Immigrant and Refugee Visions (NIRV) films for 90 Au Pairs in Boston.
Keynote address at FCTV 30th Anniversary
Michael called on FCTV to join him in working to educate the public about the importance of who selects and reports our news. Once the public starts hearing from more local voices we will begin to understand what the issues are that need to be addressed. We haven’t yet begun a dialogue based on good information.
House of Seven Gables hosted New Immigrant and Refugee Visions Screen&Discuss
The House of the Seven Gables, a colonial mansion turned non-profit museum in Salem Massachusetts, will host a New Immigrant and Refugee Visions Screen&Discuss event September 19 6-7pm, in-person.
CSFilm focus of Art Ranger Podcast
The Art Ranger, aka artist Melissa Smedley, produced a podcast on the work and sounds of CSFilm. It includes an interview with CSFilm director, Michael Sheridan, and a sound collage from the films of CSFilm filmmakers and trainees.

Afghan filmmakers and writers in exile spoke to their and their country’s trauma since the fall of the country to the Taliban. They shared their recent experiences and the films they made during Community Supported Film’s training and mentoring project: The Fruit of Our Labor – Afghan Perspectives in Film. In a very emotional experience, the event included the participation via Zoom of two recent evacuees and the project’s translator and coordinator. Qasem joined from Iran, Aqeela from France, and jamal from Canada.
