Participant in Haitian training now reporter for Reuters – new video

November 17, 2020

Robenson Sanon participated in Community Supported Film’s 2014 documentary filmmaking training.  As a radio journalist it was his first work with video journalism.  He produced the film Out of the Rubble – an exploration of internationally recognized Haitian artists using trash and the rubble of the earthquake to create sculptural art.

Robenson is a dedicated Haitian journalist covering all aspects of the political, social and economic life of Haiti.  He was wounded by gun fire in February while covering the riots caused by stalled elections and economic pain. The quality of his work has been recognized by Reuters and his continued work at national radio stations – the backbone of news dissemination in Haiti.

Robenson recently shared with us this short video that he produced on a Haitian surviving by recycling plastic.

After Afghanistan fell to the Taliban tens of thousands of Afghans made their way to the United States. They were allowed to stay under a program called “humanitarian parole.” But that status expires in a couple of months, and although they can renew one time, many are calling for Congress to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act, which would allow them to seek more permanent status.
