Hundreds gathered in downtown Port-au-Prince on February 12 to demonstrate against economic mismanagement and corruption and to ask for President Jovenel Moise to step down.

Robenson Sanon, journalist and CSFilm trainee/filmmaker, was shot in the arm while covering these ongoing protests.  Here is a clip from Robenson at the screening of films from the CSFilm Haiti project, Owning Our Future.

What was emphasized during the discussion is that it is up to those that believe in the US as a nation of immigrants, to counter the lies and misinformation that is permeating the current dialogue about new immigrants and refugees in the US. It is incumbent on all of us to speak out against xenophobia and hatred toward the newest members of our communities.
